Artist Ornaments at the Gloria Art Gallery in Yellow Springs, Ohio


"Gloria" is a brand new, first of its kind, walk-by art exhibit space create by artist Sandi Sharp located at 412 Dayton Street, Yellow Springs, Ohio.
 
The project is named after Sandi's mother who was a big supporter of Sandi's art. Folks can walk by and see the art 24/7. "Gloria" celebrates fine art by making it accessible and a part of everyday life. This month see  Pizzazz; Artist Decorated Ornaments featuring artists Corrine Bayraktaroglu aka Jafabrit

2014 Yellow Springs Arts Council Members Show

Whether it’s creating with a whole new medium, trying out some other artist’s bag of tricks or experimenting with a new style in your own favorite medium, YS Arts Council is daring you to stretch for this February’s Members show.

  • First artwork submission is free to members!  ($10 entry fee for 2nd piece.)
  • Work may be NFS or priced for sale. No commission!
  • This show has a 2-foot horizontal dimension limit.
  • Drop off dates: Feb. 8 & 9, 1-4 pm, YSAC Community Gallery (111 Corry St.).
  • At drop of, you will fill out an entry form (and pay if you need to renew your membership or enter a second piece).

Not a member of YSAC?  Join at the “support” or “advantage” level and receive free members show submission among other benefits. Go to www.ysartscouncil.org/join-us or pick up a membership form at the YSAC Gallery.

Classical Paintings and Drawings

Tom Verdon’s career has been all about people. He began with a love of art, segued into Counseling, taught Painting and now spends his time as a Figurative Painter.  Working in oil paint, Verdon’s portraits capture quiet, contemplative moments. Tom describes the process of portrait painting “as fascinating, wonderfully rewarding and just plain fun.”

Parviz Dadras is a retired engineering professor who is a self-taught artist. Working mainly in Acrylic paint, his small, elegant works are based on personal narratives and impressions.  There is a story contained in each piece that leaves the viewer intrigued and guessing.

 Artists Reception: November 15th 6-9 p.m.
Gallery Talk: 7 p.m.

The show will contain some classical studies of nudes.

The project is named after Sandi’s mother who was a big supporter of Sandi’s work. Sandi says, “When I was clearing out our family home, I found all these drawings that my mom had kept of mine….as moms do….way way before I took the direction into art. I think both my parents would get a kick out of this and be thrilled I named it after my mom.” Folks can walk by and see the art 24/7. “Gloria” makes art accessible and a part of everyday life. Future artists have been selected to showcase their work in “Gloria” and there will be a special Christmas exhibit in December.
