Exhibiting at the Emporium Wines and Underdog Café

Sketches from the Artist’s Nature Diary
 by Penelope S. Adamson
Opening Saturday, February 14, 2015:  All are invited to attend a special Valentine’s Day opening reception of Sketches from the Artist’s Nature Diary, a collection of original artwork by local artist Penelope S. Adamson. The opening, taking place on Saturday, February 14 from 4-7pm at the Emporium Wines and Underdog Café, will include Valentine’s themed hors d’oeuvers, live music, and wine. The collection embodies the simplicity, patterns, and subtlety found in the natural world through colored pencil and ink. The primary aspects of life weave throughout all of the pieces—bringing a moment of serenity to the viewer.

Most of the animals and plants in the show, which runs through April 5, are native to our dear Glen Helen and include owls, herons, Sycamore, fox, deer, and more. According to Penelope, “Creating art is a big part of my life—it’s my way of appreciating the world. Through this show, I’m hoping to convey how beautiful life is in the quiet of our own backyards.”

Penelope began drawing before she could talk and began studying art by way of scholarships for gifted children at the Springfield Museum of Art at age six. Since then, she continued studying art throughout school and worked as an illustrator for a time after graduating. This is Penelope’s seventh art show in Yellow Springs.

For a show preview, visit Facebook.com/PenelopeS.Adamson. Those wishing to purchase a piece, a print, and/or to order a commission may reach Penelope at 937-319-8088 or by finding her on Facebook.
