Scott Kissell Exhibit

One of my favourite photographers, Scott Kissell, and a member of the Village Artisans will be exhibiting at the
Glen Helen Atrium Gallery
“Sacred Places - Landscape Photographs by Scott Kissell”
September 1 – September 30, 2010

The Glen Helen Atrium Gallery is showing “Sacred Places - Landscape Photographs by Scott Kissell” from September 1 – September 30. The public is invited to meet the artist at the opening reception on Sunday, September 5 from 2 pm to 4 pm.

The Gallery is located in the Glen Helen Building at 405 Corry Street in Yellow Springs. Show hours are 9:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am to 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free. Artwork will be available for purchase.

Many of the landscape photos were taken in the Glen and around Ohio. Kissell calls these landscape photos sacred places because they deserve our care and respect. Through his work he hopes to me remind each one of us of the need to be good stewards and preserve the land for future generations to enjoy.

For more information about this exhibit call the Glen Helen Ecology Institute at (937) 769-1902 or visit http://www.glenhelen.org/.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of art goes to the Glen Helen Association, a non-profit organization whose mission is to support preservation and programs at Glen Helen and its 1,000-acre nature preserve.

Saturday Morning Yellows and Team Pollock

While I was helping Nancy Mellon set up her Getaways for Women "paint like pollock" with the jafagirls workshop in the carport next to IN A FRAME on Corry Street I was stopped in my tracks. The colours of the buildings, flowers/trees and textile graffiti were so intense and gorgeous.

Team Pollock

No, these are not REAL ciggies, just candy one's lol, but in keeping with the Pollock spirit the team decided to sport ciggies too ;)

Anti-Zombie protestor

The protestors were hilarious, shouting "zombies are socialists", and "zombies want to take away your healthcare".

Saturday was filled with events in Yellow Springs and each just fabulous, from the GREAT vendors at Art on the Lawn, to 10 min plays at the Corner Cone (check out virgil's blog for great pics by Susan Gartner),  Superfly Art Show, and a great meal at Williams Eatery (you can take your own wine), and then seeing all the zombies around town.
