Bronze Symposium Schedule

Today
will be giving her National Bronze Sculpture Symposium Artist Talk this evening in 113 McGregor Hall at Antioch College.  

Byrnes is an artist, freelance audio producer and independent curator who produces conceptually-based art that encompasses a variety of media. Byrnes has exhibited widely throughout the Midwest including at the Dayton Art Institute, Woman Made Gallery in Chicago, the Museum of New Art in Detroit, Concordia University in Ann Arbor, and the Sculpture Center in Cleveland. Her work merges intellect with emotion, adding a strong element of self to her otherwise conceptual work.

Yellow Springs Artist Studio Tour, October 2013

THE 13th YELLOW SPRINGS ARTIST STUDIO TOUR 
AND SALE
8 LOCATIONS 28 ARTISTS FROM 6 STATES
With an astonishing collection of talent, the Yellow Springs Artist Studio Tour and Sale stands out among art excursions. The 2013 Yellow Springs Artist Studio Tour represents the thirteenth consecutive tour.  For the fourth year, the tour will have eighth host studio locations, each with an eclectic variety of artists. There be a total of 28 artists participating in the Tour. Studios will be open to the public on Saturday October 19th and Sunday October 20st from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.  The Studio Tour features ceramics, fiber, mixed media, printmaking, collage, woodworking, sculptures, jewelry, glass, watercolors, and more. Artists will be coming from, MI, IN, KY, WV, WI and all over Ohio.  Many of these artists are nationally and internationally acclaimed through a variety of awards, accolades, articles, books and exhibitions.  Their works will be available in all price ranges.

 The Tour makes an important connection between artists and community members.  Collectors travel from far away to take advantage of the informal face to face visits with artists while learning about their processes and techniques. The Tour provides an opportunity to make personal connections to better understand the artists’ inspiration, process and develop relationships with the artists and to bond over their mutual appreciation of beautiful things and the process that is used to create them. The Tour has earned a reputation as a source of high-quality, art with an intriguing array of accomplished, artistic expression. Participating artists repeatedly say that they “enjoy the knowledgeable and appreciative audience that they find with visitors on the Tour”. This is a unique opportunity to meet artists who do what they love and to make purchases directly from the source. The tour is also an ideal opportunity for interior designers and gallery owners to make new connections and discover new work for their clients.
 This annual event varies each year, as new artists are invited to participate in the tour with tenured artists There are fourteen artists who are new to the tour plus one artists returning from a sabbatical. Organizer, Lisa Goldberg is particularly “excited that there will be so many new talented artists, along with old favorites, to make a well rounded event. The self-guided driving tour provides an opportunity for collectors, art enthusiasts and weekend shoppers to personally visit these creative artists studios and get a head start on their holiday shopping”.

Yellow Springs businesses enthusiastically sponsor this successful event. WCBE radio (90.5 FM) and WYSO radio (91.3) are the official media sponsors.  Organizers are partnering with the Chamber of Commerce to create an occasion for visitors to spend the weekend exploring the arts in Yellow Springs.  The weekend, dubbed “ Third Weekend Art in the Springs”, begins Friday night with the Art Stroll in downtown galleries and restaurants, It continues over the weekend with the National Bronze sculpture symposium on Saturday at Antioch College and .the Yellow Springs Artist Studio Tour, adriving tour showcasing the artwork of twenty-eight distinctive Artists on both Saturday and Sunday.
