Art A La Carte

 Yellow Springs Worth the Trip
says Edible Magazine

"One of the best road trip destinations is Yellow Springs, a quaint little town of 3,665 in Greene County, just 45 minutes from Columbus. Rated as one of the coolest towns in the country by Budget Travel magazine, Yellow Springs boasts an outstanding restaurant, bakery and wine store in one; one of Ohio’s most famous ice cream dynasties; a tiny diner; a gourmet deli; gorgeous nature preserves; and a number of cute shops. And they all emphasize local produce, meats and other products."
BUT
Wait There is More
You don't just get good food
 You get ART too.
Winds Cafe and Sunrise have rotating monthly ART Exhibits.

Irwin Abrams, Peace Prize Winner dies.

Irwin Abrams (1914-2010) was Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at Antioch University. He was regarded as one of the world's leading authorities on the Nobel Peace Prize and the history of the international peace movement. He appeared frequently on radio and television, including CNN, National Public Radio, BBC, and the CBC, and was often cited in the international press. His books included The Nobel Peace Prize and the Laureates: An Illustrated Biographical History, 1901-2001, the authorized edition of the Nobel Peace Lectures, 1971-2005, and Words of Peace

I didn't know him very well, but we had talked a few times. I had no idea when I first met him who he was as I blabbed on about world peace and current issues, etc. He never said a word lol! Such a humble man, and I could tell he was a very special and kind person.  He gave me a small book called  The Words of Peace, which I continue to find inspiring.
This world was blessed with his presense and I hope that his family are comforted in knowing he meant so much to so many people, even in small quiet ways.

Statement from Antioch University Abroad
If you would like to send a condolence card to Irwin’s family, please contact us for the address.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations in Irwin's name be made to the Steve Cary Leadership Fund.

It's not really an Ornament BUT

I couldn't resist using this funny little handcrafted toy from Asanda Imports as a tree decoration. Make a GREAT stocking stuffer, as do a lot of things in this store filled with handcrafted items from Bali and Thailand.

For more traditional ornaments
check out Bonadies Glass Studio (also on Xenia Avenue).

What a collection they have too, WOW! but there is more. Beautiful Stained Glass pieces to fit any budget.
AND
What about HANDMADE by Local Artists?
Oh, there are plenty dotted around town, for example
Check out
"Christmas Cats" by Nancy Mellon at VA
There are about 20 artists in this gallery and 20 opportunities to buy something unique.

Don't forget to check out the Holiday In the Springs guide at the YS Chamber of  Commerce for upcoming events, shop listings etc.
