“Maquettes For Large Scale Public Sculptures”
Work by Jon Barlow Hudson
October 18th-November 3rd
A MAQUETTE is a preliminary, usually small model (as of a sculpture or a building)

Jon Hudson has installed public sculpture projects in 25 different countries around the world. He creates sculpture in a wide variety of materials such as granite, marble, stainless steel, bronze, steel, wood, color, water, light, fiber optics, various types of glass and natural elements.
The cast bronze TREE OF KNOWLEDGE (at the Yellow Springs Library) was created by Hudson for his hometown. This project took about two years and was funded by the community.
Hudson particularly enjoys working in stone. “This hewing of stone in far-flung locals is part of a journey exploring form, materials and meaning through sculpture - of expressing feelings, visions and ideas of our shared life on this planet. One reason I often sculpt with stone is that it so well represents the natural world, its' past, the present and beyond into the future.”

Opening Reception: October 18, 6-9pm. 7 p.m. Artist Gallery Talk.
