Springs Gallery in Yellow Springs, Ohio, is offering a one-day jewelry workshop titled “Create a Pure Silver Domed Pendant,” on Saturday, December 3, 2011, from Noon to 4 PM. All levels are welcome. The workshop will be led by Trish Jeffers-Zeh, a Waynesville, Ohio, artist who has been creating and teaching in fine silver clay for 30 years. Jeffers-Zeh’s unique jewelry is represented by a number of local galleries, including Springs Gallery in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Trish Jeffers-Zeh will share her knowledge of this exciting and versatile medium. Students will create a simple, domed pendant using stamps and molds for textural designs. The material fires with a torch or in a kiln for 30 minutes, so students can take home their creation the same day.
The workshop fee is $50, payable with advance registration. A separate material and supply fee of $40 is payable to the instructor at the class. This fee includes 10 grams of silver clay, use of tools, use of silver syringe and paste, and supplies for firing and finishing. Everything is provided to complete the pendant; all you need to do is add a chain. Additional clay, stones, leather cords and supplies will be available for purchase in class. Bring magnifying glasses if you need them to see small detail work.
Registrations for the workshop are now being accepted. Forms are available in Springs Gallery and on the gallery site. Minimum participant age is 12. Minimum class size is 6. On the day of the class, students must present a paid receipt to participate. The deadline for cancellations with refund is Sunday, November 27. Free parking is available behind Kings Yard (off Walnut Street) and on surrounding streets.
