Arts Alive! August

YSAC’s August Arts Alive! features the gallery show by Patricia High, In and Out of Space and Time, local 10 piece horn band, Ohio Brass & Electric, and a YS Brewery Beer Garden.

Patricia High’s dramatic, abstract paintings focus on the search for worlds beyond the veil – worlds not seen with ordinary vision but with the mind’s eye.

Ohio Brass & Electric, founded in 2012, plays a mix of beloved and familiar tunes and infuses them with a juggernaut power that only a ten piece horn band can produce.

The new monthly Arts Council performance series, Arts Alive!, hosts local music groups and other performers on second Saturdays. For a $5 suggested donation, visitors can explore the current gallery show, meet the exhibiting artist, then enjoy the music of a favorite local band. People can come for just the art, just the music, or both. Arts Alive! has it all, and it runs from 6:30-9:30, a time conducive to families and adults who want entertainment earlier in the evening.

Come out to the YSAC Gallery for Arts Alive! on August 10th, from 6:30 to 9:30, in support of local music and art. The arts are alive in Yellow Springs!

Art on the Lawn with Village Artisans

The Yellow Springs Art Exchange is here!

A new group started by Johanna Smith and Robyn Jingleheimer-Schmidt is now on fb and was started with the hope of giving local artists an easy way to post their art or crafts for sale. Membership in the group immediately started growing and within the first 24 hours we had over 100 members!
 It was started after Robyn  was on the Yellow Springs Virtual Yard Sale Facebook group and I found herself wishing we had a similar group for local artists to easily post their work for sale. "I asked on the YS Virtual Yard Sale group if anyone would be interested in a similar group for art and the response was astounding! With such an enthusiastic response, it was clear that this would fill a need."

This group is not only for artists but for anyone interested buying local art. Need a gift, or need to spice up your own space? Then this group is for you! The term “art” is used loosely on the group. It is not necessary to be a professional artist. Anyone doing creative arts or crafts are welcome. All media are welcome and so far we’ve had posts of paintings, photography, sculpture, clothing design, mosaics, pottery, and collage.
