Seen Around Town

As Nancy and I were taking our walk we saw some very cool graffiti on the side of Bentino's Pizza on Xenia Ave next to the bike trail. I believe the artist is called Logo?

While the Yellow Springs Arts Council does not support or promote art activities that might be regarded as illegal, we do support highlighting art in all its forms seen within Yellow Springs.

Susan Gartner: "Eyes Wide Open" video

Local video producer and editor Susan Gartner has been named a 2007 Finalist in the Philo T. Farnsworth Video Festival sponsored by The Alliance for Community Media’s Central States Region. Her video “Eyes Wide Open” placed in the category for Documentary – Public Awareness.

“Eyes Wide Open” is the name of the American Friends Service Committee’s widely-acclaimed exhibition on the human cost of the Iraq War, which features a pair of boots honoring each U.S. military casualty and a field of shoes to memorialize the Iraqis killed in the conflict. In April 2007, Antioch College played host to the Ohio portion of the larger exhibit. Yellow Springs residents Shirley Mullins, Tony Dallas, James Felder, and Bruce Heckman each took part in a closing ceremony which is the focus of Gartner’s video. Original time: 12 min., 32 sec.

You can see more of Susan's videos by visiting the youtube site here.

Pierre Nagely

SOLD

I saw this fabulous painting at Emporium/Underdog Cafe, which is currently exhibiting the work of Pierre Nagely. So while you enjoy your cup of coffee or a bowl of their wonderful soup, have fun exploring the artwork. To contact the artist with any questions etc, just call the Cafe for his number.
