Art, music and poetry at YSAC Gallery: Saturday
The Yellow Springs Arts Council Gallery and Exhibition Space at 309 Xenia Avenue, will be the site of two events on Saturday, July 9.
The Yellow Springs Arts Council presents LIZARDS IN LOVE AND OTHER ILLUSTRATIONS OF ANIMAL INTIMACY by Debra Wilburn. Wilburn’s work is a laugh-out-loud collection of pen and ink drawings and quips portraying the vagaries of love and romance. The exhibit also includes a collection by guest artist Tony Powers entitled, WHY ARE THE WALLS SCREAMING?, which explore synesthesia, the neurological interaction between sight and sound. Power’s pieces depict synesthetic images that the artist has actually seen, or rather, heard.
Powers was recently interviewed by WYSO about his rare condition. Click here to hear the full interview.
The gallery will be open for viewing from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday.
Later that evening, the gallery doors will open again at 6:30 for music with pianist Mark DeLozier, followed at 7 p.m. with readings by Adrienne Cassel and Matt Vetter. Come and enjoy a peaceful summer evening of soothing music, art, poetry and beautiful gardens.
Food, coffee and tea will be served. This event is free and open to the public. Donations gratefully accepted.
The YSAC Gallery and Exhibition Space is available for rental. To rent the space for your next party or event, e-mail art@ysartscouncil.org or call (937) 532-6237.
