Mexican artists Macario Carrillo and Francisco Loza visit Yellow Springs after presenting at the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian. Carrillo is a Huichol artist and shaman from Nayarit, Mexico, whose Arte en Estrambre yarn paintings are inspired by his visions and ceremonies. Loza’s Arte en Estambre works have been exhibited throughout the U.S. and Mexico.
The reception will feature Chris Nimmer playing Native American flute. A $5 donation is suggested.
Carrillo & Loza will also teach a hands-on Arte en Estambre workshop where participants – anyone from first-time to seasoned artists are welcome – can make their own yarn painting to take home. $30 fee (includes materials).
