An evening of the music of
Porgy and Bess, George Gershwin's famous American opera, will be presented on Friday, December 30 at 7 PM at Emporium Wines/Underdog Cafe at 233 Xenia Avenue in Yellow Springs. Premiered in 1935, Gershwin's operatic masterpiece has been performed throughout the world. This concert will feature contemporary arrangements based on Gershwin's original tunes. The show goes until 10 PM. Admission is free.
The ensemble is comprised of Larry Halpern (organ), Mike Teckenbrock (flugelhorn), Mark Smarelli (vibraphone), Erik Greiffenhagen (saxophone), Gail Keen (flute) and Lee McKinney (percussion).
