Public Art Rules!
Mills Lawn students from the Community Enrichment program enjoy the eARThen Serpent Sculpture created by Beth Holyoke, Kaethi Seidl and the YS Community, which is located at the Yellow Springs Arts Council Gallery at 111 Corry Street. These youth are enjoying another education innovation from Deb Housh -- Urban Design: Public Art. This course gives students the opportunity to appreciate the art that defines Yellow Springs and to contribute to it. Coming Soon: The students will install a piece on the grounds of Mills Lawn School.

Johanna Smith: Public Art Project
Johanna is beaming. How could she not, the sun is shining, her beautiful daughter Rebecca is helping her, and the Mills Lawn School Sign is really taking shape. I could tell Johanna was so proud of the Mills Lawn students who helped by the way she excitedly showed me all the pieces they had added. Look at this! Look at this! Look at this! I felt I'd been on a wonderful visual adventure, and seeing her joy and the sign gave me joy too.
To learn how this project got started visit Johanna's blog entry here.
